The département of the Yvelines |
Mantes-la-Jolie
With its 44,000 inhabitants, Mantes is the third largest town in the Yvelines area, located to the west of the Paris region. It is also the central town of the Mantes en Yvelines Urban Community, which includes more than 100,000 inhabitants. Situated close to the French Vexin regional nature park, Mantes-la-Jolie (Pretty Mantes) is a wonderful example of that old expression "a town in the countryside".
To the east, the town's historical centre is overlooked by the Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame. In the centre, the village suburb of Gassicourt offers high-quality low-rise housing built around the old centre symbolised by the Church of Sainte-Anne. To the west, the Val Fourré district built in the 1960s and 1970s continues to undergo dramatic change.
Mantes-la-Jolie has shown itself capable of moving forward, leaving aside past baggage and adopting a dynamic and ambitious approach to the future which has certainly got results!
Today, the town is once again generating enthusiasm among observers, partners and new residents.
